Holiday Gardening Gifts for the Gardener

5 holiday gifts for the gardener in your life.

Recently I have given one of my friends a gift for Christmas. I gave them a

Corona SL 6500 and a Corona SP 9914. My friend’s eyes sparkled as she saw the looper blade was bigger than her fist. It was thanks to a fellow coworker who gave me the idea for both tools. He also stated that the Corona SP 9914 was the “must give gift item for any occasion.” This got me thinking. With Christmas right around the corner, what would be the best gardening gifts for the holiday season?

We’ll kick off this list with one of the gifts I myself recently just gave, a pruner. Let’s be honest, have you ever seen a gardeners without a pruner attached to them? Now the next question is how many gardeners do you know have had those same pruners for years? While some will live and die by the same pruners, why not get an updated version of the same ones?

Now thinking about it, what if you can’t afford pruners? Or what if the gardener in your life already has received new pruners recently? Well look no further to giving them the gift of G(love). Get it? It’s like the gift of love, but gift of glove.  Okay okay I get it, I’ll leave now… Now with gloves you have many different choices. They have many different colors, styles, and designs. They even have gloves that help claw out the soil.

Working on a garden, you could spend hours outdoors. That being said, what else would be a better gift than a nice versatile gardening hat. Just like gloves, they also have many different styles. It’s nice to be able to work long hours in the yard and not come back looking as red as your tomatoes.

After a long day of working out in the garden harvesting, you notice one problem. You don’t have to worry about dirty hands because you received new gloves as a gift, you also don’t have to worry about being sunburnt because you received a new hat.  Now, here comes a potential problem from using your new gifted pruner. You might have harvested too much. Too much to eat. You can always give some away or you can pickle them. Pickling your leftover harvest can be fun, but you’re going to need a pickle jar.  Yes, a pickle jar. It’s simple, but it’s a great gift for many gardeners.

Now that you have harvested all your fruits and vegetables and pickled the excess, what do you do with your left overs or plants that didn’t quite make it?  Well, that’s where this last item I recommend would be helpful, a compost bin. Probably one of the more expensive items on the list, however, the benefits are quite helpful.  You’ll be doing mother nature and yourself a favor be recycling the left over. You’ll also save money on compost and fertilizer since you’re creating your own. You have control of the added nutrients and the introduction of beneficial bacteria to the soil.
